Research Track 2 - Reproduction

Primary dependency: Natural Mating Fertility Benchmarks (CBTP31)

Research Track 2 currently has 25 projects outlined in our roadmap. Some examples include:
CBTP31 - Natural Mating Fertility Benchmarks

Quantify fertility rates achieved through natural mating under pasture-based conditions, establishing realistic expectations distinct from commercial turkey standards.

CBTP40 - Hatch Window and Synchrony

Measure hatch window duration and its effect on poult vitality and early survival.

CBTP45 - Egg Storage Duration Limits

Determine maximum safe storage times under small-flock conditions without significant hatch decline.

CBTP55 - Heritage vs Commercial Hatchability

Benchmark Canada's Bronze reproductive performance against commercial turkey data to contextualize expectations.

Deliverables:

Benchmarks, optimized protocols (egg handling/incubation), and early-warning indicators to reduce reproductive losses. How it’s used: improves self-sustaining reproduction and stabilizes poult supply for conservation growth.
